(4425) Bilk is a main belt asteroid that was discovered on October 30, 1967 by the Czech astronomer Luboš Kohoutek from the Hamburg observatory .
The asteroid was named after Bilk , a district of Düsseldorf . In 1843, Johann Friedrich Benzenberg set up the private Düsseldorf observatory in Bilk , which became the property of the city of Düsseldorf after his death. From this observatory, Karl Theodor Robert Luther discovered a total of 24 asteroids between 1852 and 1890. The observatory was destroyed during an air raid in 1943.
