(4709) Ennomos was discovered on October 12, 1988 by the American astronomer Carolyn Jean Spellmann Shoemaker . It is assigned to the Lagrangian point L5.

The asteroid is named after the mythological figure Ennomos , who is associated with the Trojan War .
