(5138) Gyoda is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 13 November 1990 by the Japanese astronomer Tsutomu Hioki and Shuji Hayakawa at the observatory in Okutama ( IAU code 877) in Tokyo was discovered.
The asteroid belongs to the Themis family, a group of asteroids named after (24) Themis .
(5138) Gyoda was named after the city of Gyōda in the north of Saitama Prefecture .
