(5893) Coltrane is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on March 15, 1982 by the Czech astronomer Zdeňka Vávrová at the Kle Observ Observatory ( IAU code 046).

The asteroid was named after the American jazz - saxophonist John Coltrane named (1926-1967).
