(6318) Cronkite ( provisional designation: 1990 WA ) is an asteroid of the main belt , which the orbit of Mars crosses and on 18 November 1990 by the American astronomer Eleanor Helin at the Palomar Observatory in California was discovered.

The asteroid is named after American journalist Walter Cronkite . It was named on October 26, 1996.
