(7881) Slater is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 2 September 1992 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( IAU code of 809) European Southern Observatory was discovered.
The heavenly body is named after the German church musician , composer and organist Johann Christian Schieferdecker (1679–1732).
