(85511) Celnik is an asteroid of the inner main belt , which was discovered on October 30, 1997 by the German astrophotographer Bernd Koch from Solingen . When it was discovered, the then 18.3 mag asteroid was located near the dwarf galaxy IC 1613 .

The asteroid was named on December 12, 2008 after Werner E. Celnik, a long-time member of the board of directors of the Sternfreunde Association .
