-rose

-rose is a German place name ending with Slavic origin.

The Slavic ending -rad or -raz (for example "tribe, clan , gender", cf. Russian род, rod ) became -rase in Low German and that in turn became -rose or -röse .

Examples:

  • Dumröse in the then Stolp district, today Domaradz in the powiat Słupski , from a reconstructed Slavic place name Domaraď
  • Groß Gastrose , the Lower Sorbian form is Gósćeraz , which originated from a reconstructed Slavic place name Gostiraď (Klein Gastrose: Mały Gósćeraz )
  • Lieberose , the Lower Sorbian form is Luboraz , which in turn made a reconstructed Slavic place names Ľuboraď arose
  • Mühlrose ( Upper Sorbian : Miłoraz), originated from a reconstructed Slavic place name Miloraď
  • Müllrose (Lower Sorbian: Miłoraz) is a town in the Oder-Spree district in Brandenburg (Germany)
