Extraction and presentation
1,5-Diiodopentane can be obtained by reacting 2-Methoxytetrahydropyran with Diiodosilane . It can also be obtained by reacting 1,5-pentanediol with potassium iodide , diphosphorus pentoxide and phosphoric acid.

use
1,5-diiodopentane is used as a crosslinking reagent. It is used to produce iodoalkylaminocarbene tungsten complexes and unsubstituted cyclohexane . It is involved in the production of poly (1-vinylimidazole-coethylene glycol methyl ether acrylate) electrolytes and is used for quasi-solid dye-sensitized solar cells .
