1-800 Vindication is the fifth studio album by the Danish death metal band Illdisposed . It was released on October 4, 2004 via Roadrunner Records .

Emergence

In 2003 Illdisposed separated from their previous music label Diehard Music, while the band was busy with a promo CD with six songs. Overall, the band worked on new material over a period of two years. During this time Tore Morgensen and Rolf Rognvard-Hansen left the band. The recordings took place in May 2004 in the Zigzound studios . The drums were recorded in the Combi Sound Studio in Viby . Produced was 1-800 Vindication of "Ziggy". The mixing and the mastering took Tue Madsen at Antfarm Studio in Aarhus . Guest musicians were The K9 Agency and Jonas Friis, who contributed synthesizers . Music videos were shot for the songs "Dark" and "Still Sane" . It was the first music video in the band's history. The artwork was designed by Lasse Hoile.

In June 2006 the band signed a worldwide contract with EMI . In Europe the album was released by Roadrunner Records.

According to singer Bo Summer, the album title can be understood as a resurrection. The prefix 1-800 is a joke about American telephone hotlines .

In "Now We're History", singer Bo Summer processed the relationship dramas he has experienced in his life. For the song "Jeff" the band used a sample from the movie Wayne's World 2 . In the sequence used, the main actor's father-in-law Wayne Campbell explains in Chinese that his name should actually be Jeff. The name has no special meaning.

reception

The album received mostly good reviews from the trade press. According to Wolf-Rüdiger Mühlmann from Rock Hard , Illdisposed “have the rare gift of writing equally heavy and brutal as well as catchy and accurate songs” and described the album as a “gem”. Mühlmann gave the album nine out of ten points. Reviewer “Gourmet” from the online magazine bloodchamber.de described 1-800 Vindication as “an all-round awesome death metal album that should reach a wide audience thanks to a lot of melody and a great sound”. Because of the short playing time, he awarded 8.5 out of ten points.

In the book Best of Rock & Metal by the German rock-hard magazine, which lists the 500 strongest metal and hard-rock albums of all time, according to the rock-hard editors, Vindication was ranked 490. 1-800 Vindication reached number 85 on the Danish album charts.

The song "Dark" was used for the soundtrack of the horror film Saw .

Republication

On August 28, 2009 Massacre Records released the albums 1-800 Vindication and Burn Me Wicked new. As a bonus, the re-release of 1-800 Vindication included the songs "Near the Gates" and "I am lost in Berlin".
