The 1. FC Wülfrath 1927 eV is a sports club from Wülfrath in Mettmann . The first men's soccer team plays in the sixth class Lower Rhine regional league .
history
The oldest roots of the association go back to 1927. In that year the SV Flandersbach was founded. The second original club was founded in 1929, the Sportfreunde Schlupkothen . The third root of the association is SSG Wülfrath, founded in 1938 . These three clubs finally formed 1. FC Wülfrath on June 27, 1975 .
In 1975 the merger club took over the place of SV Flandersbach in the Lower Rhine regional league and in 1981, as a champion, made it to the Lower Rhine Association's league for the first time . After only one year it went back to the national league, where they won the title again in 1990. At this time Dietmar Grabotin took over the coaching position at the Wülfrath Association League promoted team. After the runner-up in 1990/91, he led the club in 1992 as a champion of the Lower Rhine Association for promotion to the North Rhine Oberliga. The 1992/93 season ended with the immediate relegation.
After three years in the association league, another relegation to the state league followed in 1996. In the 2003/04 season, 1. FC Wülfrath was again champion of the Lower Rhine regional league before FC Remscheid and managed to return to the association league. In the 2012/13 season 1. FC Wülfrath rose again to the national league. Another relegation to the district league followed in 2016.
