Maximilian Wagener (born January 3, 1995 in Wülfrath ) is a German soccer player . He is under contract with the league club VfB 03 Hilden .

Career

Maximilian Wagener started his career at 1. FC Wülfrath before moving to Bayer 04 Leverkusen's youth department in 2003 . There he went through all youth teams. He made his professional debut on March 12, 2014 when he came on as a 78th-minute substitute for Stefan Reinartz in the 78th-minute defeat in the second leg of the second leg of the UEFA Champions League second leg against Paris Saint-Germain . The following day he sat on the bench for the first time in a Bundesliga match . In the 1: 2 defeat at Bayern Munich , however, he was not substituted on.

Since Wagener reached the age of a man for the 2014/15 season and the club had canceled his U-23, he moved up to the professional squad. In order to gain match practice, he was on 1 September 2014 to end of the season in the 3. Liga at the VfL Osnabruck borrowed. There he made ten league appearances. He was used once in the club's second team.

For the 2015/16 season Wagener was loaned out to the second team of 1. FSV Mainz 05 within the 3rd division . He made his league debut for Mainz II on July 25, 2015 (1st matchday) in Kiel , when he came on for Lucas Höler in the 83rd minute . By the end of the season he was in another 18 games in the squad, but only came on the penultimate matchday for another substitution.

After his return to Bayer 04 Leverkusen in July 2016, Wagener was not included in the professional squad. Instead, he took part in test matches of the regional league team SG Wattenscheid 09 as a test player . On July 22nd, both clubs announced the permanent change of Wagener to Wattenscheid. He made his debut for the club on November 12, 2016 - the 17th matchday - in the regional league away game at Rot-Weiss Ahlen with a substitution in stoppage time for Demir Tumbul. It was his only use in the league. During the winter break, he terminated his contract and moved to SSVg Velbert in January 2017 . In the summer of 2020, he switched to VfB 03 Hilden within the league.

National team

On April 16, 2014, Wagener played his only game so far for a German selection in the U-19 game against Belgium .
