15. Outpost Flotilla
The 15th outpost flotilla was a naval unit of the German Navy during World War II .
This flotilla of outpost boats was part of the 2nd Security Division and was set up in September 1939 as part of the mobilization and disbanded after the end of the war in 1945. The operational area of the flotilla in 1939 was the Baltic Sea, from April 1940 Kattegat and Skagerrak , from autumn 1940 to 1944 the western area with base in Le Havre and, after the invasion of the Allies in Normandy, for the remaining boats from October 1944 Norway with base: Kristiansand . Flotilla chiefs were Lieutenant Captain Kurt Hamacher (September 1939 to April 1940), Corvette Captain Curt Berndt (April 1940 to July 1942), Corvette Captain Viktor Rall (July 1942 to January 1945) and Lieutenant Harald Günther (February to May 1945).

After landing in Normandy, the 15th outpost flotilla became a “collection point for dispersed people”. A large number of boats were cut off from their bases in western France. Since many boats were missing from the 15th V-Flotilla, individual boats or groups of boats were assigned to it, some for a short time, others until the end of the war.
