- The Roman envoy to the Seleucid Empire, Gnaeus Octavius , is murdered. Demetrios I escapes from being held hostage in Rome, murders his underage nephew Antiochus V and his regent Lysias and makes himself ruler in the Seleucid Empire . However , he was refused recognition of the Roman Empire , although he handed both the murderer of Octavius and the Macedonian rebel Andriskos over to the Romans.
