- Due to the Senatus consultum de Bacchanalibus , a resolution of the Roman Senate, the Bacchanalia celebrations in Rome and in the Roman sphere of influence are prohibited and dissolved by the consul Spurius Postumius Albinus . Up to 7,000 people are executed. Historiography speaks of the Bacchanalia scandal .
