2-chloronaphthalene is a chlorinated derivative of naphthalene and is a chlorinated aromatic compound.

Extraction and presentation

2-Chloronaphthalene is obtained directly by chlorinating naphthalene, whereby in addition to the two monochlorinated isomeric compounds 1-chloronaphthalene and 2-chloronaphthalene, more highly substituted derivatives such as dichloro- and trichloronaphthalenes are formed.

properties

2-chloronaphthalene is a flammable white odorless solid that is practically insoluble in water.

use

2-chloronaphthalene can be used to make fullerenes .
