2004 YD 5 is an asteroid from the Apollo-type , which was discovered on December 21 of 2004. It has a diameter of about 5 meters and was only spotted at a distance of 35,000 kilometers when it passed near the earth.
YD 5 was discovered in 2004 by Stan Pope of the University of Arizona , who determined through orbital calculations that the closest approach to earth had already taken place on December 19th without being noticed .
