2,5-Dimethoxy-4-ethylthiophenethylamine (2C-T-2) is a chemical compound from the group of sulfur- substituted phenethylamines , which have a psychoactive effect ( 2C group ).

Extraction and presentation

2,5-dimethoxy-4-ethylthiophenethylamine can be obtained from 2,5-dimethoxythiophenol . The compound was first synthesized in 1981 by the American chemist Alexander Shulgin .

2,5-Dimethoxy-4-ethylthiophenethylamine produces an amplification and distortion of sensory perceptions for about 2–3 hours , combined with a slight euphoria . Nausea and muscle tension with slower reactions are mentioned as unpleasant side effects. Scientific studies on the effects and risks of the compound are not available. In the Federal Republic of Germany, the compound has been a non-marketable narcotic drug since 1998 due to its listing in Appendix 1 of the BtMG . Handling without permission is generally a criminal offense.
