history

Ray Scott Pardue

Born in Medellín , Colombia , Ray Scott Pardue was adopted by American parents as a toddler. Even as a child, Pardue's talent was noticed by his parish in the southern town of Booneville, Mississippi . Pardue then studied singing, dance, and acting at the Youth Performing Arts School in Louisville , Kentucky, and later on a scholarship at the Boston Conservatory . He then worked as a solo singer and producer.

In 2009 he started the live project 2 the Universe - back then as a pop duo , they sang their own and cover songs in hotel bars. The band name has its origin in the book The Secret by Rhonda Byrne : "Send a wish to the universe!" ("Send a wish to the universe!"). Due to numerous booking inquiries in ever larger locations, Pardue decided to bring more musicians on board. In 2011 the band 2 the Universe was created.

The band became known beyond the borders of Cologne on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the German bone marrow donor database (DKMS), when the band produced the anniversary song Together in One Universe . At the end of the DKMS campaign, the band went on tour through Germany - invited by Kim Wilde , for whom 2 the Universe appeared as the opening act during their 2012 “Snapshots & Greatest Hits Tour”.

This was followed by the music video for Retrograde , an up-tempo song made up of rock and electronic dance elements. The song was written by Fabian Strangl (lead singer of the band Random Hero ), Claas P. Jambor and Ray Scott Pardue. In astronomy , the word retrograde stands for objects that move in a rotating system against the main direction of rotation. In the song, singer Ray Scott Pardue describes two people trying to get closer. Although both could not be more different and opposites are known to attract each other, they do not succeed.

In 2014, the band took on the RTL - talent show Rising Star in part and came into the final. Even if the show was canceled early due to falling audience ratings, the band 2 the Universe received positive attention. Producer Uwe Baltrusch ( Wise Guys ) became aware of the band through the show and immediately offered them a collaboration. At the moment the focus of the band is on the recordings of their first debut album, which will be released in late 2016.
