The 3rd Security Division was a major unit of the German Navy during World War II .

history

The division was set up in mid-February 1941 for security tasks in the area of ​​the French Atlantic coast. The staff of the leader of the outpost boats west was used for this purpose. The headquarters were in the following French locations: Brest , from May 1942 in Le Trez-Hir near Brest, from April 1942 in Nostang near Lorient and from July 1944 in Kernevel near Lorient. Initially, the division was subordinate to the Commander of Security West . On September 12, 1944, the 3rd Security Division in France (as part of the withdrawal of the Wehrmacht from France) was dissolved.
