The 380 kV EMS Overhead line crossing is a 1975 built, high to 110 meters Danube poles moved, double-circuit 380 kV - transmission line crossing the Ems at Mitling Mark south of Weener . The span of the overhead line over the Ems is 405 meters. The overhead line connects the switchgear at Conneforde with that at Diele (  map with all linked pages: OSM | WikiMap ). After a major power failure in Europe in November 2006 , which triggered the disconnection of this line, the overhead line masts were increased from 84 meters to 110 meters in the summer of 2007. As a result, the line no longer has to be disconnected from the network when crossing under a ship. f1Georeferencing

Before the summer of 2007, the overhead line crossing represented one of the obstacles for cruise ships from Meyer Werft in Papenburg , which are being transferred to the North Sea via the Ems near Emden . Even if the ships just fit under the line, it had to be disconnected from the network for safety reasons due to the small distance to the conductors .

The line hit the headlines when a shutdown in preparation for the passage of the Norwegian Pearl on the evening of November 4, 2006 caused a major disruption that triggered a power outage in numerous areas of Germany and other countries in Western Europe. The disconnection of the line when another ship was transferred on November 6, 2006, however, went smoothly.
