The 4th Panzer Division ( Japanese 戦 車 第 4 師 団 , Sensha Dai-yon Shidan ) was a tank division of the Imperial Japanese Army , which was established in 1944 and dissolved in 1945. Your Tsūshōgō code (military code name) was Hagane ( Japanese , "steel").

General data

The 4th Panzer Division was, along with the 1st , 2nd and 3rd , one of the Panzer divisions that were established between 1942 and 1944. The headquarters of the Panzer Division was in Chiba , Japan .

History of unity

The Panzer Division was set up in June 1944 under the command of Lieutenant General Nagura Shiori and consisted of the 28th, 29th and 30th Panzer Regiment, as well as other units. The division was under the 36th Army and was intended for home defense in anticipation of the Allied landing on Japan ( Operation Downfall ).

In September 1945 the 4th Panzer Division was disbanded.
