The General Command 53 was a commanding body of the army of the German Empire in the First World War .

General Command 53 was a General Command z. b. V. (General Command for Special Use). These emerged from 1916 and were purely command posts; the units were assigned to it as required.

history

On August 31, 1916, Lieutenant General Konstanz von Heineccius was appointed leader of the newly formed General Command (z. B. V.) No. 53 on the northern eastern front ; it was established in the area of ​​the "Scholz" army division on the Daugava line. On March 8, 1917, General of the Cavalry Manfred von Richthofen took over the leadership.

On January 18, 1918, Lieutenant General Leo Limbourg took command of the General Command in the Daugavpils area , subordinate to the 85th Landwehr Division , 3rd Division , 5th Replacement Division and 23rd Reserve Division .

In October 1918, the General Command was part of the 11th Army ( von Steuben ) in the Balkans, subordinated to the 6th Reserve Division and the 217th Division .
