General Command 65
The General Command 65 (emerged from the Schmettow Cavalry Corps ) was a major unit of the army of the German Empire during the First World War .

General Command 65 was a General Command z. b. V. ( General Command for Special Use ). These emerged from 1916 and were purely command posts; the military units were assigned to him as required.
history
The Lieutenant General Eberhard Count of Schmettow was on 31 August 1916, after the war entrance of Romania , the commander in Transylvania standing 3rd Cavalry Division appointed, the staff the following day the cavalry corps Schmettow was reorganized. To secure the right flank of the Kühne group , Schmettow's cavalry, consisting of 6th and 7th Cavalry Divisions , advanced in Wallachia via Craiova on to Bucharest .
The staff of his corps was transferred to the General Command z. BV No. 65 converted and transferred to the Western Front . In April 1917 his general command was involved in the Battle of the Aisne as the Sissonne Group in the 1st Army . At the end of May 1918, the Schmettow group took part in the 7th Army in the Third Aisne Battle , and later in the defensive battle between Marne and Vesle .
After the armistice of Compiègne , Schmettow marched back home with the remnants of his troops, where he submitted his resignation after the demobilization of his general command.
