The Generalkommando 60 was a large unit of the army of the German Empire in the First World War .

The General Command 60 was a General Command z. b. V. ( General Command for Special Use ). These emerged from 1916 and were purely command posts; the military units were assigned to him as required.

history

The Mitau Army Group was the forerunner of General Command 60 . Lieutenant General Günther von Pappritz was appointed commander of the newly established General Command zbV No. 60 on November 25, 1916 . The general command was deployed on the northern eastern front as part of the 8th Army until the end of the war.

In the winter battle on the Aa from January 5 to 11, 1917, the Russian 12th Army under General Dimitriev made a strong attempt to break through towards Mitau , which was successfully countered by the end of January by bringing up the 2nd Division . In August 1917, the general command moved near Tuckum on the Baltic Sea with the subordinate 202nd and 205th divisions, succeeded in occupying Schlok. During the conquest of Riga , the Pappritz group supported the German main attack group ( General Command 51 and XXIII Reserve Corps ) in the east of the city with the 202nd Division from the west and the 22nd Landwehr Division from the south.
