Günther Otto Friedrich Pappritz , since 1901 Günther Pappritz (* 29. February 1856 in Radach at Drossen ; † thirtieth May 1936 in Oranienburg ) was a Prussian cavalry general and governor of Kaliningrad in the First World War .

Life

Pappritz graduated from the convent school in Roßleben , joined the 1st Guards Field Artillery Regiment of the Prussian Army in Berlin on October 13, 1874, and was promoted to Second Lieutenant on February 12, 1876 . From 1885 to 1888 he studied at the War Academy . Then in 1889 he was assigned to the General Staff . Later he was commander of a Uhlan regiment and served in 1900 in the General Staff of the Army High Command in East Asia during the Boxer Uprising in China. After his return from Asia he was transferred to the Great General Staff . On November 28, 1901, Pappritz received the title of nobility from Kaiser Wilhelm II in recognition of his services . In 1906, as a colonel , Pappritz was chief of the General Staff of the XV. Army Corps and was appointed governor of the Königsberg Fortress on October 1, 1913, even before his promotion to lieutenant general .

During the First World War, Pappritz continued to hold this post and also acted as leader of the General Command z. b. V. No. 60 . On March 22, 1918, Pappritz was promoted to general of the cavalry.

In 1937 a street in Lankwitz was named after the general in Berlin , today in the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district .
