6 villages for 2006

6 villages for 2006 (Engl .: 6 villages for 2006 ) is the official charity ; action for FIFA 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany . Together with the SOS Children's Village , they wanted to collect donations by the final on July 9, 2006 in order to enable the construction of six new SOS Children's Villages. These are then to be built in Brazil , Mexico , Nigeria , South Africa , Ukraine and Vietnam . The target of 18 million euros was exceeded and more than 21 million euros were raised.

Since the national sponsors of the World Cup Oddset because of the sports monopoly the perimeter advertising in the World Cup stadiums were forbidden this their advertising space ceded to the action.

Established children's villages

The first SOS Children's Village that was built with this money was inaugurated on March 21, 2007 in Morelia (Mexico). On June 12th 2007 the children's village in Dong Hoi (Vietnam) was officially inaugurated. Further villages have already been built in Recife (Brazil) and Rustenburg (South Africa), while construction is still underway in Kiev (Ukraine) and Abuja (Nigeria). (As of February 2008)
