8th Paratrooper Division (Wehrmacht)
The 8th Parachute Division was a major unit of the Air Force of the German Wehrmacht during World War II . The division was set up on September 24, 1944 in Nijmegen in the Netherlands . The unit was deployed on the Western Front in the Netherlands and Northern Germany . During the retreat in the direction of Schleswig , the division in the area north of Hamburg was taken prisoner by the British on May 5, 1945 .
