Earl Hedrick
Albert Earl Hedrick , also A. Earl Hedrick (born March 2, 1896 in Los Angeles , † September 18, 1985 in Whittier , United States ) was an American film architect .
Life
Hedrick studied architecture at UCLA and then design at a Beaux Art School. He began his professional career as an architect, and in 1930 Hedrick joined Paramount Pictures , where he began as a draftsman. Two years later he started his career as a film architect. Hedrick first designed decorations for countless B-productions, later added a few comedies with Bob Hope . Since 1959 Hedrick has worked almost exclusively for television, especially for the long-running series Bonanza , where he was again a partner of Pereira. Both men received a Primetime Emmy nomination in 1963 for no performance shown there . After returning to an isolated theatrical production in 1972, Hedrick ended his career and retired into private life.
Most of his designs were done by the production designer under Earl Hedrick, the smaller and more insignificant ones under A. Earl Hedrick.
