A. Are you really going? (* 1976 in Vienna - Favoriten as Alexander Gabriel ) is an Austrian hip-hop musician whose style is shaped by the Viennese dialect and ironic texts. It is also described as a mixture of Viennese humor , hip-hop, Viennese scrambles , pop and R&B and is sometimes ascribed to Austropop . His music style is based on the West Coast style .
Life
Band career
Alexander Gabriel, from which his stage name A.Geh is derived, was born in 1976 in the Vienna district of Favoriten . In 1995 he founded the hip-hop group Illianz of Lykx together with two friends, Funky Cottleti and Steez wie gehts , which started performing in 1996. This released songs like Blade Beatz , Wer hotn Beat badlt and Endgegner and a total of three demo albums: Wien only you alone , MZEH (Mir zrinnt es Hirn) and Auf da Nudlsuppn wegschwommen . Due to personal differences, the group disbanded in 2000. A.Geh trained as a tiler, but then returned to hip-hop. In 2000 he released his first solo track How I feel on the hip-hop compilation by Boombap . In Vienna, under his artist name in 2001, he moderated the traffic news for a while in the morning show on Radio Energy - in the Viennese dialect, which is also unusual for presenters on Viennese radio stations.
Solo artist
His real debut as a solo hip-hop artist only followed in 2002 with the song Echtlich? . This was played across Austria on alternative radio stations, above all FM4 , where it reached number 15 in the charts and which also published this song on its sound selection number 7 - one of the best-selling compilations in Austria (number 4 in the compilation charts). The music video was presented on the ORF television program kunst-pieces as part of a hip-hop special.
In 2004 he finally released his first album, da Doppla , which next to Really? also contains Sweet Vienna (the soundtrack to the film of the same name) and Supasumma (rank 2 in the FM4 charts) - two other songs that were heard on the radio for a while and for which music videos were also made. The album was released by Mundl Records , a label he founded especially. It was distributed via Hoanzl and online via the Austrian music distributor Goalgetter . Since iTunes no longer only carries major labels in its range, the album is also available via the iTunes Music Store.
Frequent cooperation partners for his songs are the guitarist Firefinger and DJ Supafly , who also accompanies A.Geh at his concerts. Other featurings arise mainly with the Viennese rooftop clique , which also includes EJ Adem MC and A.Geh. The film SweetVienna, in which both artists participated as actors, was produced by CV-Film.
2005 as a rapper and actor in the play "Rapattack", also in 2006 in the play "9 billion".
In the summer of 2007, A.Geh released his second album: Samma uns Ehrlich , the title track of which was played on alternative radio stations. He makes it clear again that he thinks little of gangsta rap and that he is therefore going a different way and will stay with it. Like Raggamann in 2004, the song appeared again on the FM4 Soundselection and reached number 6 in the FM4 listener charts. In the same year A.Geh founded the band Agehneration consisting of: reddetail (drums), Mikala N. (guitar), Manuela D. (voice), Dominik M. (bass), Martin H. (keys), A.Geh ( rap).
In the summer of 2008 A.Geh performed in front of a large audience at the “ Echt: wien ” Wienerlied Festival and with a band at the Danube Island Festival on the FM4 / Planet stage.
In 2009 the album called Freunderlwirtschaft was released , A.Geh and Funky Cottleti slip into the role of Wiener PüchaBuam, a joint project with a large part of the Austrian rap scene such as Funke, Jamin, AML, DJ King, Vearz, SFR, DaBertl, other rappers from the rooftop Clique.
In 2010 the band Agehneration released the EP "Agehneration" on the label dein Mutter Records in Echte Wiener 2 - Die Deppat'n und die Gspritzt'n (2010) A.Geh plays a supporting role as a rapper. He also contributed several songs to the film's soundtrack. In the middle of the year the Rooftop Clique celebrated its 10th anniversary and toured across Austria.
In 2011 the Austrorappers' third solo album will be released. It's a sampler by DaBertl and a Rooftop Clique album.
