The A414 road ( English for road A414 ) is a 107.7 km long road, partially designated as a primary route , which branches off the A41 road to the east at Hemel Hempstead , then crosses the M1 motorway (at junction 8) and , now as the primary route, bypasses the cathedral city of St Albans to the south. Until 2009, the section from the M1 to Park Street roundabout was classified as an M10 motorway , but was downgraded after the construction of the southern M25 motorway . At Hatfield , it runs between connections 3 and 4 together with A1 (M) . The four-lane road, which has connections with the same Neve level, continues to Hertford and the A10 road to Ware , where it meets the A10 road, runs with it for 3 km to the south and then branches off again to the east. Until Harlow it remains a dual carriageway, bypasses this New Town and crosses the M11 motorway at its junction 7. In its further course it bends sharply to the southwest west of Chelmsford and circumnavigates the city together with the A12 road . East of Chelmsford it leads as an easy country road to Maldon on the River Blackwater , where it ends.
