The A41 road ( English for road A41 ) is a 356 km long, mainly designated as a primary route road in England, which connects the London area with Birkenhead . The course of the road is interrupted between Chesterton on the M40 motorway and Solihull on the M42 motorway . The course of the street partly follows the medieval Akeman Street , which goes back to a Roman road, and the en: Sparrows Herne Turnpike Road from the 18th century.

The A41 branches off the A1 road at the Apex Corner roundabout in Mill Hill north-west of London and immediately crosses the M1 motorway (no connection). It runs largely parallel to the M1, bypasses Watford on the Watford Bypass, crosses the London ring road M25 motorway at its junction 20 and then bypasses Kings Langley . As a dual carriageway, it passes Hemel Hempstead and Berkhamsted , loses its multi-lane character at Aston Clinton and reaches Aylesbury , where it crosses the A413 road and the A418 road . Shortly before Bicester , it leaves its historic route, which continues the B4100 road, bends southwest and ends at junction 9 of the M40 motorway , where it merges into the A34 road towards Oxford . The following section is mainly graded to the B4100, which follows the M40 and later merges into the A4177 road and the A4141 road . This becomes the A41 again at junction 5 of the M42 motorway southeast of Solihull , passes Birmingham and, crossing the M5 motorway , leads via West Bromwich to Wolverhampton . In the further course of the M54 motorway will be crossed at its junction 3 and at Newport (Shropshire) the A518 road . The A53 road intersects southwest of Market Drayton . The A41 bypasses Whitchurch together with the A49 road and then crosses the A534 road . The city of Chester is bypassed after crossing the A55 road in the east, then the M56 motorway is crossed without a junction, as is the A53 motorway at junction 5. The A41 follows the west bank of the River Mersey to Birkenhead , where it ends.
