The released from 1971 to 1981 for traffic M56 motorway ( English for M56 ), also known as North Cheshire Motorway , is about 54 km long motorway in England . It connects the ring road from Manchester ( M60 motorway ) to Chester and opens up access to the A55 road, which is important as a connection to Ireland , and the A494 road .

The M56 forms part of the European route 22 .
