The M181 motorway ( English for 'Autobahn M181'), also known as the Scunthorpe Spur Motorway , is a motorway in England and connects the town of Scunthorpe with the M180 . Due to its length of a good 3 kilometers, it is more of a feeder road to the M180. It opened in 1978.
The north end of the feeder connects to the A18, the urban area of Scunthorpe and the A1077 in the direction of Barton-upon-Humber .
The M180 heads east towards Grimsby and from Barnetby on the A15 further north over the Humber to Hull . To the west there is a connection to Thorne and from here to the rest of the UK motorway network.
The M181 has two lanes plus one hard shoulder in each direction.
