course
Both ends of the A952, which runs in north-south direction, merge with the A90 ( Edinburgh - Fraserburgh ). While this describes a wide arc over Peterhead on the North Sea coast, the A952 is more direct and offers a shorter route. At the north end it leaves the A90 near the hamlet of Cortes . It runs through a sparsely populated region of Aberdeenshire and connects various hamlets and farms to the road network, including New Leeds . After around twelve kilometers, the A952 reaches Mintlaw, the only larger town. The A950 (Peterhead– New Pitsligo ) crosses there . With the North and South Ugie Water , the road crosses both headwaters of the Ugie . After a total length of 26.8 km, the A952 joins the A90 again near the hamlet of Toll of Birness .
