Coming from the west, the A90 ( Edinburgh - Fraserburgh ) runs along the north bank of the Firth of Tay . In Dundee, she uses the Kingsway, which was built in the 1930s to bypass Dundee. North-east of the city center, the A90 bends north towards Forfar . Starting at this roundabout, the A972 uses the Kingsway in a south-easterly direction. A few meters after the start, the A929 branches off towards the city center. After 500 meters you will find Pitkerro Road at a roundabout . Running a further 1.3 km to the southeast, the A972 ends at a roundabout at the end of Kingsway. There the road joins the A92 ( Dunfermline - Stonehaven ) coming from the center of Dundee , which continues to the east. Thus, the A972 closes the outer ring road Dundees between A90 and A92.
