Özkan Yorgancıoğlu

Özkan Yorgancıoğlu (born August 1, 1954 in Lempa , Paphos district ) is a Cypriot Turkish politician. He was Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus from 2013 to 2015 .

Yorgancıoğlu was born in 1954 in the village of Lempa in the southwest of the British crown colony of Cyprus . He graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Economics and graduated in Political Science in 1980. He is married and has two daughters.

He joined the Cumhuriyetçi Türk Partisi in 1974 . In 2011 he followed Ferdi Sabit Soyer as party chairman. In 2015 he resigned from his office and passed on his post as party leader to Mehmet Ali Talât .

In the cabinet of Prime Minister Ferdi Sabit Soyer he was Minister for Youth and Sport from January 2004 to September 2006. He was elected to parliament in the Nicosia constituency in the 2006, 2009 and 2013 parliamentary elections. After the CTP-BG became the strongest party in the early elections on July 28, 2013 , the interim government under Sibel Siber resigned. Yorgancıoğlu became Prime Minister of a coalition government of CTP and DP on September 2, 2013 . On July 3, 2015, he and his coalition government announced their resignation.
