Cumhuriyetçi Türk Partisi (abbreviation CTP , in German Republican-Turkish Party ) is a social democratic party in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus .
The CTP was founded on December 27, 1970 under the leadership of Ahmet Mithat Berberoğlu and is the oldest Turkish Cypriot party. She is an associate member of the Socialist International .
In the 2005 elections, the CTP got 44.51 percent of the vote and was able to claim 25 of the 50 seats in the Assembly of the Republic for itself.
In the early elections in 2013, the CTP received 38.38 percent of the vote and was able to claim 21 of the 50 seats in the Assembly of the Republic for itself. They formed a coalition government with the Demokrat Parti . In July 2015, the cabinet under Prime Minister Özkan Yorgancıoğlu resigned and the coalition fell.
In the 2018 elections, the party lost 9 of its seats and only has 12 of the 50 MPs. She provided the prime minister until May 2019, when the coalition partner Halkın Partisi terminated the coalition due to internal disputes and formed a new government with the Ulusal Birlik Partisi .
