The Balgarski Sozialdemokrati ( German Bulgarian Social Democrats ) is a social democratic party in Bulgaria . It is associated with the Social Democratic Party of Europe and is represented by one member in the European Parliament. The party is also a member of the Coalition for Bulgaria , an amalgamation of several parties led by the Bulgarian Socialist Party . In the last elections in 2005, the coalition received 34.2% of the vote and 82 out of 240 seats in the Narodno Sabranie . It sees itself as the successor to the Bulgarian Social Democratic Labor Party, which was founded in 1891 and banned in 1948 (or was forcibly united with the communists) and was re-established in 1990 as the Bulgarian Social Democratic Party , but then renamed after a few years within the framework of various coalition alliances.
