The Social Democratic Party of Hungary ( Magyarországi Szociáldemokrata Párt (MSZDP) ) is a social democratic party in Hungary that was founded on December 7, 1890. The party was dissolved in 1948 after the communist takeover. It existed again for a short time during the Hungarian people's uprising from October 1956 to November 1956 and was re-established after the system change in 1989.
She was represented in parliament from 1922 to 1948 . The MSZDP was a ruling party between 1945 and 1948. After the system change, the then party chairman László Kapolyi was a member of parliament in the MSZP faction from 2002 to 2010.
The MSZDP is a member party of the Social Democratic Party of Europe (SPE) and the Socialist International (SI).
