North Nicosia ( Turkish [Kuzey] Lefkoşa , Greek Βόρεια Λευκωσία Voreia Lefkosia ) is the northern part of the city of Nicosia in the center of the Mediterranean island of Cyprus and is in fact the capital of the world only by Turkey recognized TRNC . De jure it belongs together with the southern part to the Nicosia District of the Republic of Cyprus . It can therefore be found in the list of shared places through which a political border runs.

Since then, the city has been divided by a “Green Line” (“Green Line” / “πράσινη γραμμή” / “yeşil hat”) , which is monitored by United Nations peacekeeping forces , the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus ( UNFICYP ).
