The A9 motorway is a motorway in Cyprus . The highway forms an east-west connection from the capital Nicosia to Dhenia and is twenty kilometers long.
Street description
The A9 begins as an urban road in Nicosia and becomes a motorway on the west side of the city. The route runs along the border with the Turkish part of Cyprus. The motorway has four lanes and currently ends at Dhenia.
history
The highway between Nicosia and Dhenia was opened to traffic in 2006.
future
In 2012, an extension to the west to Astromeritis was planned, which would make the motorway 65 km long. This should be completed by 2016; however, construction was postponed due to the financial crisis in Cyprus.
