The AAA Texas 500 is a race in the NASCAR Sprint Cup , which is held at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth , Texas . It's relatively new to the racing calendar. The inaugural race took place on November 6, 2005. Another NASCAR Sprint Cup race in Texas, the Samsung Mobile 500 , has been held since 1997.
The AAA Texas 500 is the result of the so-called Ferko lawsuit , an antitrust lawsuit that forced NASCAR to abandon the fourth major race, the Southern 500 . The fans despised the race as "Francis Ferko 500" because it was added to the calendar instead of the Southern 500. The race has always been in the Chase for the Sprint Cup .
