The Consumers Energy 400 is next to the FireKeepers Casino 400, the second race in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup , which is held at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn , Michigan . It was originally introduced as a 600 mile race in 1969, but was reduced to 400 miles as early as 1970. In 1973 the race did not take place as Roger Penske , the new owner of the circuit, exchanged it for an IndyCar race.
