AMG Sebastiani Basket Rieti was an Italian basketball club from Rieti . The club won the Korać Cup in 1980 .

After the dissolution in 1997, a new club was founded in Rieti, Nuova AMG Sebastiani Basket Rieti . This also dissolved in 2010.

history

The club was founded in 1946 and first played in lower-class regional leagues before taking on Serie A for the first time in the 1963/64 season, the highest Italian basketball league. The team achieved its best result in the 1978/79 season, when it only failed in the semi-finals at Virtus Bologna . Overall, the club was represented ten seasons in Serie A, the last time in the 1982/83 season.

Nuova AMG Sebastiani Basket Rieti

Nuova (German: new) AMG Sebastiani Basket Rieti was considered the successor club of AMG Sebastiani Basket Rieti. He played three seasons in Serie A, it wasn't enough to participate in the play-offs for the championship.

In 2008 the club moved to Naples , just under 300 kilometers from Rieti , which meant that the entire fan base was lost. Due to financial problems, Nuova was excluded from Serie A and broke up shortly afterwards.
