A Dal 2018 took place from January 20, 2018 to February 24, 2018 and was the Hungarian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon ( Portugal ). The winner of the show was the band AWS with their song Viszlát nyár .

format

concept

The show consisted of a total of three preliminary rounds, two semi-finals and one final round. Ten entries were presented in each preliminary round and six in the semifinals. Three each were selected by the jury and three by televoting to further qualify for the semifinals. In the final, the number of qualifiers was then reduced to six. Both the jury and the callers had the right to vote. The winner of the final represents Hungary at the ESC 2018 in Lisbon.

Prices

New this year were two prizes. Best Lyrics of A Dal 2018 and the best text at A Dal 2018 and New Talent of A Dal 2018 , the biggest new discovery of the show , were awarded once . These winners were each decided by this year's A Dal jury.

On December 6th, MTVA announced that Freddie , who represented Hungary at the 2016 , and Kriszta Rátonyi A Dal 2018 were hosting.

Choice of contribution

Interested composers were invited to submit their contributions to MTVA from October 9, 2017 to November 15, 2017. In contrast to other preliminary rounds, in order to participate in A Dal one must have released at least one album or had a national radio hit since 2016 in order to participate. To do this, you have to have a contract with a record company and a music management company. In addition, only contributions in Hungarian , English or another minority language of Hungary were allowed. Only Hungarian composers were allowed to participate.

Attendees

On December 6th, MTVA presented the 30 participants from A Dal 2018 .

Here too there were some returnees to the A Dal . Ceasefire X and Péter Szikszai already took part in 2016. Viki Eszes , who participated together with #yeahla , participated in 2013 as part of the band Background and in 2017 as part of The Couple . Also Fourtissimo already took part, 2015. Gábor Heincz Biga and Viktor Király both participated in 2012 and the latter again in 2014. Gabi Knoll also took part in A Dal in 2014 . In addition, Odett took part via a wildcard in 2013 and returned in 2016. In 2013 and 2014 Tamás Vastag also took part. Also ByeAlex , the Hungarians in 2013 represented, returned as a composer 2018th The following participants took part in 2018:

The winners of the Hungarian preliminary decision: AWS

The final took place on February 24, 2018. Here eight participants competed against each other. The voting process was different here than in the semi-finals. In the first voting round, the four jurors alone determined the four participants for the second voting round. They distributed 4, 6, 8 and 10 points to the four best participants. In the second voting round, the viewers from televoting and SMS voting were the only ones who determined the winner of A Dal 2018.
