Abū ʿAmr ad-Dānī

Abū ʿAmr ad-Dānī ( Arabic أبو عمرو الداني; born around 981 in Córdoba; died in Dénia in 1053 ); also in the form ʿUṯmān Ibn-Saʿīd ad-Dānī u. a., was an Andalusian Islamic theologian from the Malikite school of law . His Nisba ad-Dānī refers to the city of Dénia (Dāniya) in which he settled.

Live and act

Abū ʿAmr ad-Dānī was born in Córdoba in 981. He did the Hajj and lived in Cairo between 1006 and 1008. After his return to Cordoba, ad-Dānī had to flee. He first went to Almería and then to Dénia . He was particularly known as a Koran scholar , but also as a hadith scholar. He wrote the Kitāb at-Taisīr fī 'l-qirāʾāt as-sabʿ (on the seven readings of the Koran ) and Kitāb al-muqniʿ fī maʿrifat rasm maṣāḥif al-amṣār (on the Koran orthography). He died in Dénia in 1053.
