Abderrahmane Morceli

Abderrahmane Morceli ( Arabic عبد الرحمن مرسلي; * January 1, 1957 ) is a former Algerian middle-distance runner .

Morceli was three times Algerian champion in the 1,500 meter run . At the Universiade 1977 in Sofia, he won the bronze medal over the same distance. In 1979 he was second behind the Kenyan Mike Boit at the African Athletics Championships in Dakar in the 1,500-meter run and took second place in the 800-meter run and third place over 1,500 meters at the Mediterranean Games in Split . He also took part in the 1500-meter run at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow and 1984 in Los Angeles, as well as the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1983 , but could not qualify for a final there.

Abderrahmane Morceli is 1.71 m tall and had a competition weight of 61 kg. After the end of his active career, he trained his younger brother, the Olympic champion and multiple world champion Noureddine Morceli .
