Abel Faivre
Abel Faivre (born March 30, 1867 in Lyon , † August 13, 1945 in Nice ) was a French painter, poster artist, lithographer, illustrator and caricaturist.
Abel Faivre studied for three years at the École des beaux-arts de Lyon with Jean-Baptiste Poncet or André Benoît Perrachon and then at the École des beaux-arts de Paris and continued his studies at the Académie Julian with Jules Lefebvre and Jean-Joseph Benjamin-Constant gone.
He received a third class medal at the Antwerp World Exhibition in 1894 , then a Medal of Honor at the Lyon World Exhibition in the same year.
Abel Faivre exhibited from 1903 in the salon of the Société nationale des beaux-arts . He lived and worked in Paris and in Gassin , then in La Croix-Valmer , where a boulevard now bears his name.
He delivered a large number of satirical drawings to the magazines “Sourire” and “L'Assiette au beurre”. He was also an employee of " L'Écho de Paris ". During the First World War he created many propaganda posters, including that of the state loan.
He also worked for the humorous magazine “ Le Rire ” - renamed “Le Rire Rouge” during the war - and for “La Baïonnette” and “ Le Figaro illustré”.
In 1907 he was a founding member of the committee of the Salon des humoristes.
