Aberfeldy is a town with 1990 inhabitants in the valley of the River Tay in the Scottish region of Perth and Kinross . In Gaelic it is called Obar Pheallaidh ( Peallaidh was a kind of water goblin, the part of the name Obar means mouth or confluence).
The place is in English-speaking especially known for the folk song The Birks of Aberfeldy ( The Birch of Aberfeldy ) of the Scottish poet Robert Burns .

Aberfeldy is located in a scenic area of the Scottish Highlands . In the village, the visitor will find a water mill that was operated for grinding oats until 2003. Oat ( Oat Meal ) are in Scotland, inter alia, for the preparation of the traditional porridge used a slurry of oat flakes, water and salt or sugar. Today there is a bookshop in the mill building.
Aberfeldy is the production site of the Dewar - whiskeys . The distillery can be visited.
